The US History Bee is delighted to announce the start of its fourth year of American history quiz competitions for students across the USA. This year’s US History Bee will function basically identically to the way it did in the 2015-16 school year. 3 different versions of the National Qualifying Exam will be offered, leading to our 2017 National Championships on Friday, April 21 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA. Remember that the US History Bee is separate and distinct from the National History Bee (which focuses on all aspects of history, not just American history). As in past years, the US History Bee will consist of the Varsity Division for 11th and 12th graders, and the Junior Varsity Division for students in grades 10 and younger (including middle school students).   • Welcome to the US History Bee!


    The US History Bee is an individual social studies competition focusing exclusively on American history for primary and secondary school students across the USA. The US History Bee is administered by International Academic Competitions and like all IAC competitions puts an emphasis on what students are learning in the classroom, and rewards their passion for learning.

    The Varsity / JV US History Bee consists of two stages. The first is the National Qualifying Exam, which students can take either at our Regional sites in person, or online. The second is the National Championships which take place in April 2023. The Middle and Elementary School Divisions of the US History Bee are contested solely at the June 2023 IAC Middle and Elementary School National Championships. These Divisions are open to anyone in 8th grade or younger who has qualified for the National Championships of the National History Bee. For all age divisions, the US History Bee runs exclusively as a buzzer-based quiz tournament at the National Championships.
